What is Modular Building?

A modular building is essentially a building or structure that has been built in a factory and is then transported, often in seperate components to the build site where the individual pieces are combined.

Working from a set design means that each piece of the structure can be built quickly to tight specifications and then assembled with ease without the need to adapt to the myriad of issues that creep up in conventional, one-off construction projects.

TA Structures Modular buildings are most often used in remote areas where conventional construction practices are neither plausible nor cost effective. The orderd structures are easily transportable by flat deck truck and can then be placed on a suitable foundation, ready to be used, or ready for assembly into larger modular units like base camps.

For even more efficient use and re-use of modular structures, TA Structures' units can be constructed on steel skid assemblies allowing them to be placed directly on flat ground, negating the need to build a foundation.

Benefits of Modular Building Techniques

Modular buildings benefit from the economics of scale. Each component of the structure from plumbing to stud assembly to electrical can be achieved far cheaper than traditional on-site construction due to an ideal build environment in the factory, volume discounts for all build materials, and reduced down time related to material delivery delays or theft.

Further reductions in cost are also achieved by the volume building of these structures. The same, skilled workers with a running familiarity of the design and process results in far quicker production with fewer mistakes.

Once on-site, modular structures are easily put together and easily disassembled. The self-contained components (modules) are then easily transported to the next location where they are needed.
